Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards

This recently finalized rule from the Department of Homeland Security addresses provisions for inspections, audits, recordkeeping, and the protection of information related to Chemical Terrorism Vulnerability information.

This risk-based performance standard also constitutes assessments and security plans for facilities that use or store certain chemicals over a threshold quantity. At the current time, anhydrous ammonia is a listed chemical with a threshold quantity of 7,500 pounds or more.

The links below provide additional details and guidance to determine if you are a covered facility and the necessary steps for compliance. It is important to note the ruling provides the Department of Homeland Security with the authority to issue penalties and prevent further operation of facilities that are not in compliance.
